Christian Lawyers Alliance Pakistan (CLAP)
Christian Lawyers Alliance Pakistan (CLAP) is the alliance of born-again, Spirit-filled Christian lawyers that Advocate Soba Sorya, its Founding Patron in Chief, founded in Lahore in 2020, so that no Christian in Pakistan would stand before a court alone.
Founded in 2020, carried since 1982
Christian Lawyers Alliance Pakistan (CLAP) is an alliance of Pakistani Christian lawyers and Christian advocates in Pakistan practising before the lower courts, the Lahore High Court and, through senior counsel, the Supreme Court. It gives free legal aid to persecuted Christians, defends families in blasphemy and forced conversion cases, documents and translates persecution accounts for Pakistani Christian asylum seekers in Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and beyond, and funds LLB and LLM studies for young Christian lawyers from poor families.
The Alliance formalised a work its founder had carried alone since his enrolment in 1982. In 2020 Advocate Soba Sorya gathered a group of born-again, Spirit-filled Christian lawyers in Lahore and founded CLAP; he leads it as Founding Patron in Chief, and every office holder serves under his patronage.
